FUNDACION IMAGEN LATINA was created for the production of the feature film EL REY, documentary filmmaker and film professor Antonio Dorado’s first feature film.  EL REY received rave reviews in various national and international Film Festivals  ( Havana , Palm Springs , Santa Barbara , Chicago Latino Film Festival), was Colombia ’s submission for the Oscar’s Best Foreign Language Film in 2004 and was nominated for the best international movie in the Goya Awards given by Spain ’s Academy of Film Science .

Production for EL REY took place in Colombia ( Cali and Bogota ), New York City and Paris . Post-production took place in Madrid. This project left FUNDACION IMAGEN  LATINA a valuable experience in dealing with the creative, legal, managerial and logistical challenges of an international production. It also established a relationship with two international producers France ’s Eurocine and Spain ’s CTP. The mission of FUNDACION IMAGEN LATINA is to promote the film and video activity in  Colombia . To this purpose, it develops and produces programs relevant to our region and to a worldwide audience.  Each project brings new challenges and experiences that have

economic and symbolic value to our region. We want to leverage these experiences and relationships to open new creative and social possibilities for our  film/video industry.
